Busy Month its been

We have been busy on a lot of little projects for ourselves and others too. Holidays you know.  Following are some images of pieces in process to give you an idea of how some of this is done.

These are repeat cuts of the first tooth and first hair cut boxes. They seem to be quite popular. I was asked to make 2, but the material would allow me to make 4 so waste not! I will have two for the next show.

Black Walnut and Bubinga, and Cherry and Paduak.

Surface decking

Start of the pocketing

3D milling the inside lips

Walnut set ready for sanding. note the magnet pockets for closure.

Now the start of the cherry

3D lip cutting

Lids test fitting

tops of the inside lids not cut yet

Bubinga inside lid cut half way

Now the Paduak

Tops of the inside lids now machined

Cherry and Paduak

Still have to finish sand and stain, mount the magnets and hinges, but they are basically there.

Do you need a unique gift for someone special for Christmas? We still have time but got to get going on it now.

Quick Floating clock update

Got a longer tool so I could make a second Hidey Hole in the back. So it now has two small places to keep something out of sight.

This new pocket is the area behind the clock face.

Both will have covers that are removable. Just need some time to get them cut out.
I have a few projects to complete first though.

Floating Clock

I had a chance to work on this clock again.
It still needs sanding and finishing yet but I wanted to share.

Brazilian Cherry, curly Aspen, set in a quadrant of a Yellow Block Burl

There is a hidey hole in the back to keep some small items out of sight.

Such a natural beauty

It does function as a small shelf as well

If you want a unique gift or need something made for yourself, give me a shout and we can get a project started today.  billsbilletboxes@gmail.com

Osage Orange and Lignum Vitae box

I have always wanted to machine Osage before but just never found it anywhere.
I figured to mate it with Lignum Vitae one of the hardest most dense woods in the world (does not float) with one of the most dense woods that grows in this country.

I had this piece of Lignum around for a couple years. I have since decided I would not purchase any more of it as no one is planting these trees anymore.

So once all mine is gone, its gone.

Cocobolo, Red Heart, and Cherry

This is a 5 container box.

Base is made from cherry. Base openings are undercut on the inside. Similar to the double box you will find earlier in my posts.
Four outer ring lids are made from cocobolo. Center lid is Red Heart.

Nice center piece for your hutch or desk.

Thanks for looking -Bill

The Purple Heart Sister box to the Bubinga Box

Purpleheart, Mahogany, and Hickory knot.
Finished natural with 14 coats of finish on lid and wet sanded to a high luster.

Purpleheart inside tray with elliptical pattern dividers.
storage underneath for larger items.

Here they both are together. I made the purpleheart box the same time I did the bubinga one. just never finished it. Honestly I never really tried to sell these too hard before this last weekend.

These can be purchased singly or as a pair. I would make deal on the two as I think they belong in the same home myself.

These are still available but I don't think they will make it through the next craft fair coming up in Williams Bay at the end of July. They aren't that expensive but aren't that cheap either. email me and lets see if we can come together.

Thank you so very much. I really appreciate the letters. Keep them coming. -Bill

The Wish Box

This is also made from Canary Wood Mahogany. This is a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches thick box.
It features a small glass vial in a machined area containing  small wishbones and says wishes on it.

There that vial is.

I made a few of these and have one left. You can have this one or I can make another one with your choice of materials or..... perhaps something unique for you? You tell me what you need.

We were at Strawberry Fest displaying this weekend and this one is still available.
